BLITZ vs ACTIVE: Washer and Dishwasher Cleaner Tablets in Canada

Short answer

We pick BLITZ for Canadian homes: a Laval, Québec company that bills in Canadian dollars, with a French store, delivery in 2 to 3 business days, 10% back in store credit and a 30-day money-back guarantee. One tablet every two weeks, a year in one box, and BLITZ says all its products are septic-safe when used as directed. ACTIVE's own store bills in US dollars and ships to US addresses only, so in Canada you buy it on Amazon.ca. Per clean, BLITZ is $1.00 to $1.04, or $0.92 in the Essentials Kit; ACTIVE is $1.04 to $1.21 on Amazon.ca (October 20, 2026).

Tip: No tablet reaches food stuck in the filter. Pull it out and rinse it before the cleaning cycle. If a smell comes back anyway, see why a dishwasher smells bad.

ACTIVE vs BLITZ ingredients: what each tablet does

BLITZ vs ACTIVE ingredients: both dishwasher tablets list sodium carbonate then citric acid; BLITZ washer tablets list citric acid first, ACTIVE washer tablets name no acid and use an oxygen cleaner
Chart: BLITZ and ACTIVE ingredients in the order each brand lists them. Sources: BLITZ product pages and ACTIVE's Amazon.ca listings (useactive.com publishes no list), checked October 20, 2026.
  • Washer: the one real formula difference. BLITZ's product page puts citric acid first, for limescale and mineral deposits, then sodium carbonate and sodium percarbonate (an oxygen cleaner). ACTIVE's Amazon.ca list starts with "proprietary ingredients", then sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate and sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate, which is the same oxygen cleaner under another name. It names no acid, so no descaler is listed.
  • Dishwasher: nearly the same. Both lead with sodium carbonate, then citric acid. ACTIVE's list also names sodium sulfate, two water softeners (disodium EDTA, MGDA) and PEG.

Neither brand discloses amounts, so we can't say which tablet is stronger. useactive.com publishes no ingredient list.

Careful: One cleaner per cycle. Never add bleach: BLITZ tablets and ACTIVE's dishwasher tablets contain citric acid, and Health Canada warns that bleach mixed with an acid releases toxic gas.

LG, Samsung, Whirlpool and Maytag: how to use BLITZ

BLITZ washer tablets work in front-load, top-load and HE washers. BLITZ has no chlorine or bleach: citric acid descales and sodium percarbonate, an oxygen cleaner, lifts grime. Here is the cycle to use on each brand.

  • LG: put one BLITZ tablet straight in the empty drum, not the dispenser, and run Tub Clean. Details in how to clean an LG washer.
  • Samsung: Self Clean takes liquid chlorine bleach only ("Do not use or mix any other detergent or chemicals"). Run the BLITZ tablet in a separate hot cycle, never in Self Clean. See how to clean a Samsung washer.
  • Whirlpool and Maytag: one BLITZ tablet in the empty drum, then Clean Washer or the hottest cycle. Comparing with Affresh? See BLITZ vs Affresh.

  • Easy to try: free shipping in Canada from $40 ($7.95 under), most orders in 2 to 3 business days, 10% back in store credit on goblitzclean.com and a 30-day money-back guarantee (refund policy). Also on Amazon.ca.
  • One tablet every two weeks, a year in one box. BLITZ says all its products are septic-safe when used as directed.
